Shadowrun.. Today.

Okay, after seeing adverts for runflat tyres and discussing over text and forum with some of you over some other shadowrun stuff that is sneaking onto the market I have gone on a quest to find the real Shadowrun of today. This is the technology that will make you the living breathing St. Sam of 2005. This was going to be a one off post but there is such a large amount of technology out there which has Shadowrun parallels that I am starting a whole post on the topic and if I find much more I am going to have to start a website. Comments and additions welcomed.
This week I will start with cyberware, but I have found game tech for everything from weaponry and equipment to vehicles and entertainment, and I have also found things, which have connections to the far future game of SLA.

lol i prefer to keep this 1 secretive, as a roleplaying thing :)
That said, i may put together a small work of fiction to whet your appetite.

It was a frosty morning and Yuri rubbed his gloved hands together then raised his coat sleeve to glimpse at his watch. The tiny neon display read 03.22 almost mocking him with its little flashing seconds digit.
“For frags sake.” He cursed and paced up and down the alley. Why anyone wanted to guard an empty nightclub was beyond him. All the takings had been removed already, it all seemed pointless to him. He consoled himself with the fact he was getting time and a half. It was hard for an Ork on minimum wage he and Evanya would need all the money they could get with a second baby on the way.
The silent night air was suddenly broken by a tinkle of glass from the yard. Yuri groaned under his breath and dutifully trudged round to see if a small animal was running amok. Something tingled on the back of his neck, a warning perhaps? He slowly drew his CorpSec (c) issue Taser and headed around to the small external gate. He peered into the yard as he swiped the Maglock but there was nothing. He did a small circuit of the yard and jumped as his comm-link burbled into life.
“Tango 7, this is base, status report. Over.” The voice was tired and Yuri recognised Julie’s voice. The young Orkish girl had been with the company for 3 weeks now and Yuri liked her. She was calm under pressure and friendly with all the guards, not like that snooty bitch Sarah who worked days.
“Base this is Tango 7, investigating disturbance. Wait, over.” He kept the nerves from his voice, knowing that Julie would despatch emergency back-up if she suspected he was panicked and he didn’t want to look a fool on a new job.
“You ok Yuri?” She sounded concerned.
“Yeah, probly, nothing. Just an animal. I can’t see anything so don’t worry. Thanks Julie.”
“Ok, keep warm Yuri.”
He laughed as he gave the yard one final look, whatever it was had long since gone. He started back towards the gate, then without knowing why snapped a look up at the roof. A figure stood stock still crouching cat-like on the corner lintel. His hand went back up to his earpiece but suddenly he was wracked with pain, dropping to his knees. The figure dropped to the yard floor, a distance of about 15 meters and walked towards him without breaking stride and gracefully padded right up to him. Yuri was doubled over on his knees but could make out a slender, cat-like female form in urban combat equipment.
“What are you?” He gasped, scrambling for the Taser that he had dropped.
“That’s not important and this is nothing personal.” The voice purred almost mocking him, she seemed to be enjoying his suffering. He reached for his comm-link again, but she was quicker, snapping up his Taser and discharging it into his chest.
He caught sight of her face as he started to lose consciousness. She was vaguely familiar, a couple of years ago maybe...
“Hey... Aren’t you?...Chl..”
“Goodnight.” She whispered.

That's becuase I have been away from my desk, ergo the computer. Fear not, a writeup is underway.
Like I said, I was sort of planning on running a game once a month so I will be aiming for the end of January time. I will check with Nigel when is good for him (as he will be our glorious host) and will let you know the date as soon as.

I am already penning the next installment, and it is a real help that you were there and know what went down for the next run.
What I will probably do is email you a week in advance so that you have a chance to print out or digest the info.
