Clay Buchholz fanned 11 while allowing one run in 6 1/3 innings for Double-A Portland on Monday.
It's unclear whether the Red Sox gave it any serious thought, but Buchholz might have been the best option to take Curt Schilling's spot in the rotation. With Homer Bailey and Yovani Gallardo in the majors, he's one of the top candidates for the label of best pitching prospect in the minors. In June alone, he's had 12 strikeouts once and 11 twice. He's 6-2 with a 1.79 ERA, 53 H and 111/19 K/BB in 80 1/3 IP on the season.

Brewers system is stocked. Could be a surprise player for Burly
True. They shelled out for Suppan, no?

I would go for it if I were them. This is their best chance to win in 25 years.
They could take JD as well to help the offense.
How is their bullpen?

all I know is they are young in the bigs, and good talent down below.
and don't forget, whomever acquires burly will offer arb and get the two draft picks
Buehrle for Jackson, Gwynn, and a low-minors kid.

WOW!
That'd be ideal.

Buehrle's not still arby eligible, is he? This year is his sixth full season.
Is it that if you trade someone, they're automatically arb. eligible?
BlackSox
If we dealt Jose-C for good prospects, and used the money saved to sign Buehrle, I'd be a Mets fan for life.
Well, not a fan, but certainly a well-wisher.

Marlins acquire Jacque Jones?

(Re Jacque)
Looks like it. Sox missed out! I'm going to miss the hilarious trashing he and Barrett took on BBF, Desipio, and Hire Jim Essian. At least Izturis and Scott Eyre are still on the roster.

Buehrle for Jackson, Gwynn, and a low-minors kid.
Yovanni Gallardo would be nice.

All free agents are Arb eligible. The team that they are leaving MUST offer arbitration in order to receive compensation for them leaving. Otherwise they get Nada. The FA can then pick arbitration or sign a contract, if he signs with another team, compensation kicks in.

What a pleasant surprise.

Maybe that was KW's plan all along. Let it be known that he was looking to move Mark to make him stop and say, "okay, okay I give. I want to stay here, let's see if we can work something out."
